The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro's new film, which he won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, was the most nominated film for the Golden Globes 2018 with seven. As for the content producing companies, HBO leads the nominations with 12, followed by Netflix with 9.
The 75th edition of The Golden Globes opened the Hollywood awards season and in addition to celebrating the best of cinema and television, is the first showcase to condemn the scandal that shook the industry.
Known for being one of the funniest and most informal galas in Hollywood and for inaugurating the awards calendar that culminates with the Oscars, this year the 75th edition of the Golden Globes delivery comes amid the scandal of allegations of sexual abuse that have shaken Hollywood and ended with the careers of industry benchmarks such as Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey.
This year the Golden Globes arrive not only with the desire to party, but also with the previous announcement that several stars will wear black to denounce the sexual harassment of women in Hollywood.
The ceremony, hosted by humorist Seth Meyers, is the prelude to the Oscars, an event in the world of cinema, television and fashion.
"Good evening ladies and the remaining gentlemen," host Seth Meyers began at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
The awards, given by the Association of the Foreign Press of Hollywood, are the first showcase for the stars, who wore almost all in black, to address the issue.
"There is a new era in the works, I can say it because a white man had not been so nervous in Hollywood for a long time," Meyers said of Harvey Weinstein.
"For the nominees in the room tonight, this is the first time in three months that it will not be terrifying to hear their name read aloud," Meyers added.
Spooky allegations against the former producer unveiled a culture of harassment, abuse and rape practiced by heavyweights such as Kevin Spacey, Brett Ratner, Dustin Hoffman and James Toback, among many others.
