It is the year 2016 and in Michigan receive the victory of Donald Trump on Barack Obama: home of Mayfair, Ally (Sarah Paulson) reacts to the victory of the Republicans with a cry of pain, while elsewhere in the city, Kai Anderson (Evan Peters) celebrates Trump by shaking his TV and with metal music background. As revealed so far, both characters are key to American Horror Story: Cult, the seventh season of the acclaimed anthology that will be released this Tuesday September 9 by FX in the United States and a day later by the same chain in Latin America.
Unlike Roanoke, which was a season kept secret until the very day of its release, Cult is more open, but not less intriguing. For the tracks left so far by the production, the season will revolve around a woman who revives her phobia to the clowns after the triumph of Trump, the same that would be taken advantage of by a cult that is part Kai to destroy his life.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter , American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy clarified that the new season in the series is not, as many believe, a delivery against Trump and Clinton's favor, but an exploration of why Americans voted by such or such candidate. He said his intention has been to find out why some people feel marginalized and undervalued by the systems of government.
Murphy stressed that "the season really is not about Trump, it's not about Clinton," but about "someone" who examines what's going on, who discovers the vulnerabilities of people and uses all their inquiries to try to gain power, speaking probably in reference to the personage of Peters, who is in front of a cult in Michigan.
The producer noted that Peters would actually play six cult leaders in this seventh season, including Charles Manson, David Koresh, Jim Jones, and Andy Warhol. In addition, Kai, who is described as a racist homophobic man who admires Trump and who tries to follow his footsteps in his city.
As for the Mayfair, Ally's coulophobia grows up after Trump's triumph and her troubles with her wife Ivy (Alison Pill), whom she blames for having voted for Green Party's Jill Stein instead of Clinton. During the season, the couple becomes white cult because they are liberal white lesbians.
In addition to the characters mentioned, Cult will mark the return of Cheyenne Jackson as Dr. Rudy Vincent, Adina Porter as a journalist and Emma Roberts in an unspecified role. Also the debut in Billie Lourd's American Horror Story as Winter Anderson, Colton Haynes as Detective Samuels, Pill as Ivy and Billy Eichner as Harrison Wilton.
Lena Dunham will also appear in an episode of the series. Likewise, Leslie Grossman is part of the cast.
'Election Night," first episode of American Horror Story:Cult, will be released this Tuesday, September 5 at 10:00 p.m. by FX in the United States.
