Battle of the Bastards was an easy A for this season of the Game of Thrones. After watching the episode, we are like inside a dark room trying to catch our breaths with a very small window. Well, Jon Snow's feeling was worst. Struggling to breath under a pile of dead bodies and running teammates. The hardest part is trying to avenge everything worst Ramsay had done to his family and yet in the verge of defeat because of playing your enemy's game.
Some say Jon was a worst leader and Sansa could have been better. Well, his emotion was all over the place or he was just too confident after escaping death.
This episode makes Game of Thrones very special if not the best TV show ever aired. Violence upon violence that you will sorry to both sides. It was like you are watching a climax of a movie minus the assurance that the hero could make it. Lots of cast out there turning the flow upside down. We can't stop but fell like this is already the final episode. Yes, there is another one. And hopefully, a more exciting finale is coming or can they do that again?
Action-packed Movie-style
The battle for Winterfell was like 3 movies. Saving Pribate Ryan from the start as they engage. Braveheart as pile of bodies gathered in the center of the battlefield and finally, 300 as the surviving Snow party tries to climb a hill of bodies. Showrunners DB Weiss and David Benioff definitely delivered something ambitious and special tonight.
The most important part is we still have our favorite fighting characters. There is no greater show than to see your heroes still breathing at the end of the day. Wun wun was sad though.
Predictable Twist?
Well, Jon Snow failed with his plan of facing the enemy Ramboo style. He ended up trapped in a well-placed strategy by the seems-to-be smart Ramsay. As people have been predicting the whole week, Sansa with the help of Littlefinger's Knights of the Vale came in to the rescue. We have been familiar with these kind of twists but who cares? We are just so happy that someone arrived and made our day. After all, we all want a Snow victory right?
Ramsay's Death was Suprising Though
It might not be enough to see Ramsay die with a sword stabbed in his heart or Wun wun stepped at his head, we all want a more interesting death for Ramsay. We predicted that Sansa has a different plan but we did not see it coming. It was the dogs. Those big hounds that barks like they are just behind our doors while watching. Ramsay was not in the battlefield but on a chair to face his death. Perhaps, there is no more fitting than to be eaten by your own pets. There is no one more satisfied than Sansa as the episode ends.
Girl Power
Girls are all over the place. Sansa made a much-needed impact in Winterfell. Meereen Daenerys and Yara Greyjoy are arms tied for a solid alliance. In this time where Kings rule the kingdoms, girls have their thrones as well.
Rickon's death was heart-breaking but needed
Rickon's death made the Battle of the Bastards steamy from hot, and interesting to exciting. Ramsay obviously did that to break the heart of the leader of his enemies before fighting him. We admit that after an arrow finally hit Rickon's heart, we almost shouted "Game On!" It was a good start for an epic battle but we felt Rickon's death is untimely though.
Enough with the North, how about the Dragons?
The Mother of Dragons is now becoming a more powerful character, literally. We have been waiting to see Daenerys riding these ferocious monsters and burning stuff. Tonight was the start and we can't help but predict how miserable would his upcoming enemies be if they even try to fight her. Dragons make this show different and how they blow fire would be critical for more success of this show.
So, are you ready for the finale?
